About Keys&Type
Keys&Type is run by one person, Michał Fedor, from Ostrołęka in Poland. There is no company behind it and no support department. Everything you see here, the tools, the texts and the articles, is put together and answered for by the same person. His professional profile is on LinkedIn.
What the site does
Two things. The keyboard test shows which physical keys register and which stay silent, and it reads the position of the key rather than the character it produces, so QWERTZ, AZERTY, US International, both Polish layouts, and dead keys behave the way they do on your desk instead of the way an American layout expects.
The typing practice uses real writing instead of random word lists: fables, poems, speeches and founding documents that people in a given country grew up with. Every text comes with a short note on who wrote it, when, and why it still matters at home.
Where the texts come from
Every practice text is in the public domain, and each one is checked against a published source before it is used. Contemporary song lyrics and modern poetry are refused, whatever the request. If you spot a text that is wrongly attributed or wrongly transcribed, write and it will be corrected.
What the site does not do
There is no account, no registration and no newsletter. Your results and records stay in your own browser and are not sent anywhere, which also means nobody here can recover them for you. The privacy policy explains how to view and delete them yourself.
The site is free to use. Nothing on it is for sale, and it is meant to be paid for by advertising, which is not running yet.
